Eyepieces (oculars) – A
This is a binocular microscope with two eyepieces (A). The power of the eyepiece and objective lens (E) determine the visual magnification of the specimen as the product of the power of the two lenses. For example a 10X eye piece used with a 25X objective will have a visual magnification of 250X. To your eye the specimen appears 250X larger. Be careful, this doesn't apply to pictures or the video display from the microscope. The eye pieces have eye shades raising them if you don't wear glasses to keep your eyes the right distance from the eye piece.
